I just finished reading this book and I'm literally blown away!It feels like a satisfactory victory when you read a well written book these days. One can say that this book "Love in the Jim Crow South" written by Ms Kendra Queen have by far outstripped my expectations. Ms Queen brought that fire and brimstone which lit the pages of this incredible narrative.I trip myself over so many times about how she so eloquently and masterfully penned a tale and built a storyline that's filled with a quality of splendid characters and vivid places, while leaving plenty of room for the reader to create their own dire implications.This book is a complete contrast to many historical romances. Usually the heroine is annoying and needs saving and the Alpha comes along to save the day. I am happy to pronounce that this is not the case with this novel.Eva and Lennard paths were destined to cross and you just felt the connection the minute these two exchange words. The story took place in the backdrop of a racially infused town with prejudice as it common goal.Eva is an astonishing character. Her and Lenard's journey was a roller coaster ride to take. I became pissed at times, livid to say the least just reading some of the things Eva and her family had to go through just because of the color of their skin. Not that it mattered to Lennard but still, it's laborious to go through such length knowing the punishment she had to endure to be with a man like Lennard, a rich white man.I cried. Literally, this book had me in weeping. Tears of joy, frustration, anger and sadness. I was furious that a certain character wasn't held accountable for her actions, but I digress. I was happy that Lennard did put that wicked thorn in his side witch in her spot and was adamant in wanting to be with Eva.This novel is both character driven and plot driven. You can relate to most of the graphemes. The quality of the writing is superior. Couple chapters will certainly have you rile up while others will have you heated with those hot love scenes that were tastefully written.The book is simply wonderful and the ending is perfect. This is an amazing story with a background that matches everything that you can imagine that took place in that era. I just cannot wait to read more from this author.
